Optimist Club of Santa Claus, IN
Frequently Asked Questions

What do Santa Cluas Optimists do?
We're teamed with over 4,200 other Optimist Clubs to form Optimist International, one of the world's largest service club organizations. We work to benefit youth through various service programs, activities, and scholarships. Our community and youth service work is built around the philosophy of positive thinking -- the words of the Optimist Creed convey the meaning behind our approach.

Members attend regular club meetings, volunteer for projects, serve on committees, receive "The Optimist" news magazine, and enjoy fun and fellowship with like-minded individuals. Members better themselves personally and professionally through the many leadership and personal development opportunities made available through the club.

Every year we hold our Installation Banquet. We recognize the achievements of our members and install our new officers. (The Optimist administrative year is October 1 - September 30)

How is Santa Claus Optimist funded?
We're funded through two sources: modest member dues and income from fundraising projects. Member dues typically cover club administrative and operating costs, and a portion of the cost of community service work. Most of the money used to run our youth service projects is generated from fundraisers - the three major ones are an Optimist Golf Scramble, the Avenue of Flags and our Pancake Breakfast. All income from fundraisers is returned to the community in the form of service projects or charitable donations. The Santa Claus Optimist Club is a 501(c)(3) organization affiliated with Optimist International.

Thinking about joining us?
Remember, Optimist Club members receive as much as they give:

  • The fellowship of people who get things done - and the example they set for embracing a similar optimistic mindset
  • New social and working relationships with individuals from a cross section of communities
  • The opportunity to develop and demonstrate leadership skills locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally
  • And the satisfaction of making a difference in their own lives as well as their communities.
