RESPECT FOR LAW CAMP FOR YOUTH - 2010 information not yet available
(Co-Ed for Campers Entering 5-6 Grades) - Cost $95.00 fee for each camper.
Operated by Indiana State Police

HONOR YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS
Invite them to your meetings.
Have a special program for them &/or dinner.
Honor them with Certificates of Appreciation or Plaques.
Submit articles to local media of these events that are sponsored by your club.

TRI STAR Golf (Word Format / PDF Format) The Indiana South District Optimist supports the goals of the Optimist International sports contestes. Tri Star Golf is just one way we support that goal.
Driving
Each participant will attempt five drives from the designated teeing ground. These will be scored for distance and accuracy. One point will be scored for each drive that stays in bounds and passes the first set of flags. Two points will be scored for each drive that stays in bounds and passes the second set of flags. Three points will be scored for each drive that stays in bounds and passes the third set of flags. One person will be needed to explain the rules, answer questions, start the participants and record the results. One person will be on the range to score each drive.
Equipment needed:
* drivers & range balls
* direction flags
Chipping
Each participant will chip five balls from the designated teeing area to a designated hole in the putting green. One point will be scored for each chip that stops within six feet of the designated hole. Two points will be scored for each chip that stops within four feet of the designated hole. Three points will be scored for each ball that stops within two feet of the designated hole. One person will be needed to explain the rules, start the participants, and record the results.
Putting
Each participant will attempt five putts from the designated teeing area to a designated hole in the putting green. One point will be scored for each ball that stops within three feet of the hole. Two points will be scored for each ball that stops within two feet of the hole. Three points will be scored for each ball that stops within one foot of the hole. Five points will be scored for any holed putt. One person will be needed to explain the rules, start the participants and score the results. One person will be needed to measure the distances from the hole.

Tri Star Basketball The Indiana South District Optimist supports the Optimist Interneation Tri Star Basketball Program.

HOBY Sponsorship - The Indiana South District Optimist supports the goals of the HOBY mission.
Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students.
HOBY programs provide youth selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences. HOBY also provides adults with opportunities to make a significant impact on the lives of youth by volunteering.

Jr Golf - The Indiana South District Optimist Junior Golf Tournament will be held again this year at Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton , Indiana, on June 17, 2010 (10-13 year olds) and June 18, 2010 (14-18 year olds).
The tournament also serves as a qualifier for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships and the Tournament of Champions to be held at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on July 22 - August 1, 2010. For more information:

Help the Childhood Cancer Campaign get its ducks in a row at the International Convention in Denver, Colorado! Show your support of the CCC and participate in the fun.
For a mere $10.00 US/CN, Members will be given a ticket for a cute yellow rubber duck. At the Denver convention, all the ducks purchased will participate in a race! The first duck to cross the finish line wins its owner the grand prize of $100.00 US. The second place finisher receives $50.00 US and the third duck across the line gets $25.00 US..click here for more on this exciting project...

Oratorical Contest - A speech contest on
a designated topic for kids under the age of 16. Our club contest is usually
conducted in February each year, and presents a club contest award to a boy
winner and girl winner. Our club winners advance to further contests
competing for scholarships.

Respect for Law Camp - Kids in the 5th &
6th grade are eligible for this special 2-day camp held at various sites and dates around the state. The camp is conducted by Indiana
State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel. Contact
with the Indiana State Police has been made regarding next year's camp
information.

Essay Contest - A writing contest on a
designated topic for kids under the age of 19. Our club contest is usually
conducted in January each year. The club winning essay is entered in the
District contest, competing for scholarships.

Childhood Cancer Campaign - "Providing
the Care...Finding the Cure." In December 2001, the Optimist
International Board of Directors established the CCC as the organization's
primary focus program for the next five years. CCC was also approved as a
Community Project Award (CPA) category commencing with the 2002-2003

Hearing (CCDHH) - A communications contest for deaf and hearing
impaired kids through grade 12. Our club contest is usually held in March each
year. The club winner advances to a District contest competing for a
scholarship.
